Philosophy of Education
The goal of Catholic education in the classroom should be to integrate both fides et ratio, faith and reason, into a children’s learning. One must not go without the other, and a proper Catholic Education intertwines both of these aspects because God gave us the gift of reason, His image and likeness, as well as the virtue of Faith to develop in accord with the Holy Spirit’s guidance in our lives. The Lord has ordained that the teacher of a child be his or her own father and mother, but the Church has commissioned Herself as an aid to families where needed, especially in regard to catechesis. Therefore, the Catholic educators' main purpose is to assist parents in fulfilling the duties of parents in leading their children to Christ through example in living the virtues, spiritual instruction and guidance, education, and social behavior. By looking to serve the world with both goodness and truth, Catholic educator is better able to lead your children into becoming little disciples of Christ. My mother, a special education teacher for much of my childhood, always taught my siblings and me that God makes each child with unique gifts and challenges, and it is the role of those who serve the child as their educator to meet the child where he or she is, in order to bring them to where they must be to answer the call to their vocation, which neither the teacher nor the parent may choose for the child. We are here to help the child reach his or her fullest potential in order that he or she may attain salvation through their life’s work.
Message to Parents
I invite the participation of each of my students’ parents in the education of their child, as that is the way that God has ordained a child to learn, and we are merely here to assist in this endeavor. Whenever instructional material is covered, feel free to connect it to the world, so your child has a deeper understanding of what they are learning in the classroom. I am excited to have your child in my class and look forward to a productive and successful year. I have high expectations and goals for your child and look forward to tailoring them to your child's particular learning needs. Communication is key in serving parents as a teacher in a Catholic school, so please do not consider whether or not you should contact me. I invite all questions or comments, as that is how you will train me to grow as an educator in service to this particular class and your unique child. I am excited to work with you and your children into shaping them into disciples of Christ and, in doing so, help them grow into the young man or woman He intended them to be, which will help them be successful later on.
Extracurricular Activities
I enjoy reading 19th-century history, astronomy and going on long walks. I was a three-sport athlete at my alma mater Ave Maria University so I enjoy an active lifestyle. Which includes running, swimming, and going to the gym. My favorite activity is spending time with the lord in front of the blessed sacrament or going to daily mass whenever possible.
