St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School students Andres Morejon, Francisco Novoa, Madison Mooney, Anna Kate Rodriguez, Sebastian Morejon, and Mason Rodriguez competed in the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston (SEFH) held at the George R. Brown Convention Center on February 26, 2022. SEFH serves as the regional fair for all junior and senior high school students in Harris County and 22 surrounding counties.
The virtual awards ceremony was Saturday, March 5 and St. Clare students represented us very well winning the following awards:
1st place in the category of Behavioral and Social Science was Madison Mooney with her project titled Prism Plasticity. Winning
2nd place in the Physics and Astronomy category was Sebastian Morejon with his project titled What’s That Racket. Winning
2nd place in the Behavioral and Social Science category was Francisco Novoa with his project titled A Pre-Text to Crash. These three students advanced to participate in the State Level Science and Engineering Fair.
Two special awards were also given: Andres Morejon received the Jacobs Science Explorer Award for his project titled Don’t Blow Me Away and Sebastian Morejon received the Smiti Gandhi Junior Research Star Award for outstanding research in STEM.
